Vision & Mission

As YWAM Harbour City, we are dedicated to being a vibrant community of God-worshippers who reach the lost, welcome in and send out teams and individuals, and serve the body of Christ in fulfilling its call to missions. We are passionate to see the Kingdom of God expand in Asia through mercy ministries, training, and evangelism.

Life as a Volunteer

+ Weekly Activities

Monday through Friday we usually start off our days with community worship followed by intercessory prayer or Bible study. After that we work in whatever area we serve in at the base. We also have several other activities and meetings throughout the week which will vary depending on the time of year you come and on how long you stay for, but may include small groups, Cantonese class, and more!

+ Local Outreaches

Our local outreaches in Hong Kong may include reaching out to schools, university campuses, families, elderly, refugees, red-light district, domestic helpers, etc. Our community is especially focused on reaching out to the youth of Hong Kong. As a Mission Builder you have the opportunity to participate in these outreaches and explore what it’s like to be a missionary in Asia.

+ Community

We value community and relationships! We love hanging out by eating together, sightseeing, hiking, game nights, and doing other fun stuff!

+ Days Off

Saturdays and Sundays are usually days off, so feel free to explore the city!

Explore Hong Kong: ‘Asia’s World City’

Hong Kong is a city of immense physical and social contrasts. Serene islands and uninhabited hill areas are only miles away from some of the most densely populated spots on the face of the world. Over 90% of the total population is Chinese, primarily speaking Cantonese. The remainder of the city represents a variety of ethnicities from all over the world. Hong Kong is very much a multinational city.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

+ What is YHC's focus?

As a community we are primarily focused on discipling the youth of Hong Kong and reaching out to other nations in Asia. We would love to give you more information on what we are currently doing and our plans for the future; get in contact with us!

+ Where is YHC located in Hong Kong?

Our base is in Shui Tau Tsuen (read our blog post about the village) which is one of the oldest villages in all of Hong Kong and deemed a historic site for tourists to visit on weekends. We consider our presence in this village to be very strategic for the kingdom of God because we worship and serve Him at one of the birthplaces of this city.

+ What is YHC's schedule like?

The general schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00-6:00 with a one and a half hour lunch break from 1:00-2:30. Worship starts at 9:00 followed by intercessory prayer/Bible study at 10:00. Saturday and Sundays are generally free.

There will be times when you are asked to work on the weekend or outside regular hours due to the variety of ministries we do. Base schedules are usually adjusted when this happens to make sure everyone has enough time to rest.

+ Do I need to have specific skills in order to volunteer?

It doesn't matter whether you're skilled or unskilled; what matters is that you have a heart that's ready to serve!
